Role Overview: Audit Manager (Insurance) – Gibraltar

We are currently seeking an experienced Audit Manager with expertise in Insurance to join our Gibraltar office. This role is ideal for professionals eager to advance their careers in a dynamic environment, focusing on insurance entities, multi-national firms, and substantial audit engagements. Working closely with KPMG’s UK Financial Services team, you will lead complex audits and manage client relationships with stakeholders from diverse industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory audit standards, KPMG Core Values, and uphold a commitment to quality across all engagements.
• Audit Planning & Execution: Oversee the entire audit lifecycle for a portfolio of insurance clients, including fieldwork, statutory reporting, and audit timeline management.
• Client Relationships: Build strong relationships with client staff, act as KPMG’s ambassador, and provide insights into complex audit issues.
• Project Management: Lead project timelines, team briefings, and audit execution, ensuring the efficient use of resources and meeting financial objectives.
• Compliance & Independence: Participate in independence reviews, preparing reports, and collaborating with KPMG’s Ethics and Independence team.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, fostering their professional growth and potential.

Skills, Education & Experience

Skills

• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate decision-making and evaluative skills, and maintain attention to detail.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in IFRS, UK GAAP, US GAAP, with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on client interaction and teamwork.
• Leadership & Management: Ability to motivate, coach, and guide team members, with a focus on quality and productivity.

Education & Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA Qualification or international equivalent.
• Extensive experience at a manager level in external audit within a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
• Insurance Audit Expertise: Background in insurance audits with a sound understanding of industry standards.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in external audit with expertise in systems/controls testing, group audits, consolidations, and statutory account reviews.
• Knowledge of auditing insurance entities, with practical experience in auditing standards and guidelines.
