Purpose of the Role

As an Accounting, Insight, and Advisory Assistant, you will prepare financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, ensuring all disclosures are accurate. You’ll also handle corporate tax matters, including preparing corporation tax returns, and provide bookkeeping services such as preparing VAT returns. This role also offers opportunities to be involved in client meetings and contribute to team projects.

Main Duties

• Identify areas where clients’ systems can be improved and where additional fees may be raised.
• Gain exposure to key areas of client files and accounts preparation.
• Develop professional scepticism while handling straightforward corporation tax computations.
• Provide financial insights and support clients with bookkeeping services, including VAT returns.

Technical Skills

• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively.
• AAT qualified or recently completed, with relevant experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of CCH AP, Alphatax, and CCH Review and Tag is advantageous.
• Proficient in Excel, Sage, and Xero.
• A basic understanding of accounting standards, tax legislation, and professional ethics, with a desire to develop further.
• Ability to prepare basic tax computations independently.
• Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in a changing environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
