Key Responsibilities

• AppSec Framework Development: Design and implement a standardised, measurable framework for secure software practices.
• Leadership: Mentor and manage a small application security team, fostering strong stakeholder relationships across the company.
• Collaboration: Work with engineering and development teams to build and implement security controls in the product lifecycle.
• Security Advocacy: Promote and measure security best practices and standards across engineering teams.
• Awareness & Reporting: Develop training for stakeholders and report on the status of product security.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has at least eight years of hands-on experience in application security, secure coding, and vulnerability management. They should possess strong proficiency with security tools (e.g., SAST, DAST) and demonstrate deep knowledge of web application security principles, including OWASP Top Ten.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years in application security, with engineering team experience.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge in security assessment tools and practices; experience in penetration testing and vulnerability management.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of secure coding, product security, and industry-standard security metrics.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Industry certifications like CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP preferred.
