We are seeking an AWS Lead Data Engineer to join our AI & Data Team in Riga, Latvia. In this exciting role, you will lead end-to-end data solutions, leveraging AWS services to drive digital transformation for clients across Europe. Job Description

Are you ready to lead impactful data engineering projects? Deloitte is seeking an AWS Lead Data Engineer to work on high-impact digital transformations for global clients. In this role, you will drive end-to-end data solutions using AWS services like S3, Lambda, and Glue, alongside Terraform and DataOps principles.

As a key player in the AI & Data Team, you will manage cloud-based data projects, design scalable solutions, and help clients maximize the value of their data. Your experience with AWS, data engineering, and client-facing roles will help you thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Projects: Oversee the full delivery of AWS cloud-based data engineering solutions.
  • Design Scalable Solutions: Build and optimize data pipelines using AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, etc.), SQL, Python, and Spark.
  • Client-Facing Role: Interface directly with clients to shape solutions and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Drive Digital Transformation: Enable clients to transform data strategies, focusing on Procurement and digital shadow spend.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Promote the use of DataOps principles, including CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Manage and distribute tasks within the technical team to ensure project milestones are met.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 5+ years in Data Engineering with expertise in AWS technologies (S3, Lambda, Glue, IAM, Terraform)
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of DataOps, CI/CD, and orchestration tools
  • Client-Facing: Experience managing projects and interacting with clients
  • Languages: Fluent in English (German is a plus)
  • Flexibility: Willing to work with clients across multiple time zones (Eastern Time Zone is a plus)
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field

Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, IAM, Terraform)
    • Experience with data engineering frameworks (SQL, Python, Spark, ETL)
    • Familiarity with Snowflake, Data Warehousing, and Snowpark
    • Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering
    • Experience leading data engineering projects and managing client relationships
    • Background in managing large-scale data pipelines and cloud infrastructure
  • Additional Skills:
    • Expertise in DevOps practices
    • Strong communication and project management skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on AWS
  • Experience in cloud architecture, AI & machine learning solutions, and DataOps best practices
