As a Head Cashier, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that customers receive fast, friendly, and accurate service during their checkout experience. This involves processing both checkout and return transactions, as well as overseeing the Self-Checkout area to maintain a smooth operation. You will actively seek knowledge about products and services to provide valuable information to customers and identify potential selling opportunities.
In this role, you will adhere to all company policies and procedures to minimize shrinkage and ensure the security of transactions. As a leader in the front end, you will support other Cashiers by expediting price checks and approving Point of Sale transactions, including markdowns for mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
Additionally, you will serve as the first point of escalation for customer issues, addressing concerns efficiently and effectively. You will assist in supervising, coaching, and training other Front End Associates, participating in the onboarding of new Cashiers and utilizing all available tools to enhance their development and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service Excellence:
- Provide fast, friendly, and accurate service to all customers during their shopping experience.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly, ensuring a positive shopping atmosphere.
Transaction Processing:
- Efficiently process checkout and return transactions, ensuring accuracy in handling cash, credit, and electronic payments.
- Monitor and maintain the Self-Checkout area, assisting customers as needed.
Sales Opportunities:
- Proactively seek product knowledge to inform customers about promotions, product features, and benefits, enhancing their shopping experience.
- Identify selling opportunities and encourage additional purchases through effective communication.
Operational Support:
- Expedite price checks and approve Point of Sale transactions to ensure efficient service.
- Manage markdowns and oversee the proper execution of policies related to pricing and inventory control.
Team Leadership:
- Assist in the supervision and training of new Cashiers, providing guidance and support as they acclimate to their roles.
- Utilize coaching tools and resources to help Cashiers improve their performance and customer service skills.
Issue Resolution:
- Serve as the first level of escalation for customer issues, working to resolve conflicts and ensure customer satisfaction.
