Responsibilities of the Director of E-Commerce

As Director of E-Commerce, you will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives to optimize our e-commerce operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing e-commerce strategies that align with business objectives, driving growth in our online presence and sales.
  • Collaborating with the Performance Marketing Manager and the E-Commerce Specialist to execute marketing campaigns across digital platforms, optimizing customer acquisition and engagement.
  • Leveraging advanced e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Klaviyo, VWO, Sanity.io, and Attentive to improve the user experience, personalize customer interactions, and optimize conversion rates (CRO).
  • Analyzing market trends, customer behavior, and competitor strategies to identify opportunities for innovation and refine our e-commerce approach.
  • Helping manage and allocate eight-figure digital marketing budgets, ensuring effective use of resources to maximize ROI and achieve business objectives.
  • Providing strategic insights and detailed performance analyses to senior management, including the VP of E-Commerce. This includes reporting on key metrics, progress against goals, and recommending actionable strategies.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement by using data analytics and cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with senior executives, including the CEO and other VPs, to ensure alignment of e-commerce strategies with overall business objectives, fostering alignment and gaining buy-in for strategic initiatives.
  • Championing sustainability efforts, integrating eco-friendly practices into e-commerce strategies, and contributing to our commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions and full circularity within the required timeline.
  • Serving as a strategic advisor to the leadership team, offering insights to optimize operational efficiency, support business scalability, and drive sustainable growth.

Qualifications for the Director of E-Commerce

To be successful in this role, the ideal Director of E-Commerce will bring a wealth of experience in digital commerce and strategic management. Required qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience in e-commerce, particularly in direct-to-consumer (DTC) or business-to-consumer (B2C) environments.
  • Proven expertise in managing and optimizing e-commerce platforms, particularly Shopify, with a deep understanding of funnel optimization and direct-to-customer strategies.
  • Expertise in utilizing advanced tools such as Klaviyo, Attentive, Looker Studio, VWO, and Sanity.io for e-commerce optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making, with the ability to identify and act on opportunities for growth.
  • Demonstrated experience managing eight-figure digital marketing budgets, with a focus on maximizing ROI and optimizing resource allocation.
  • A hands-on approach, with a willingness to step in as an individual contributor when needed, ensuring agility and responsiveness in all e-commerce operations.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
