Job Description Summary

Roles and Responsibilities
As an Engineer Apprentice, you will be supervised in the following key responsibilities:
Equipment Evaluation and Troubleshooting
- Hospital Environment: Work within a hospital radiology environment to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues, implementing appropriate repairs under supervision.
- Preventative Maintenance: Complete preventative maintenance tasks on designated equipment, ensuring longevity and reliability.
Compliance and Documentation
- Safety Inspections: Perform safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.
- Service Documentation: Complete necessary service and repair documentation following hospital protocol and GE policies and procedures.
Customer Communication
- Daily Interactions: Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure issue resolution and proper follow-up, ultimately leading to enhanced customer satisfaction.
- Technical Knowledge: Continuously enhance your technical knowledge of current standards and procedures regarding the safe and effective use of medical equipment.
Mentorship and Teamwork
- Learning from Experts: Mentor with and assist more experienced technicians in progressive repairs and resolutions.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts in your assigned area.
Qualifications
To qualify as an Engineer Apprentice, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Education: Graduate from an A.S., B.S., M.S., or directly related certificate program in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging Technology, Mechanical Principles, or a similar field. Alternatively, current students in these programs, with no more than 12 months left until graduation, will also be considered.
- GPA Requirement: Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Experience
- Technical Skills: Previous experience and coursework in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on diagnostic imaging or electronic equipment is essential.
- Customer Relations: Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with customers is crucial.
- Transportation: Candidates must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Physical Capability: The Engineer Apprentice must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch, kneel, sit, and stand for long periods.
- Vision: Specific vision abilities required include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Compliance Training
- Quality Training: Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Regulatory Awareness: Be aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual and applicable laws as they pertain to this role.
Desired Characteristics
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience: Previous experience in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing effective repairs on biomedical or electronic equipment.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues to customers clearly.
- Teamwork: Experience interfacing with internal team members and external customers as part of a service process.
Compensation and Benefits
For U.S.-based positions, the pay range for the Engineer Apprentice is between $18-$28 per hour. Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, including skills and experience. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives (LTI).
