Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership across the KPMG global network, including GTT leaders and country representatives.
  • Lead teams to produce high-quality publications and guidance materials.
  • Enhance the technical knowledge of ISG and KPMG networks by interpreting and applying IFRS Accounting Standards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop KPMG’s positions on the interpretation and application of IFRS standards.
  • Stay informed about accounting developments and provide feedback to the IASB, including the IFRS Interpretations Committee.
  • Contribute to KPMG thought leadership by monitoring sector developments and preparing internal and external communications.
  • Address technical consultations and informal queries from KPMG member firms.
  • Identify emerging issues, conduct research, and create technical guidance.
  • Develop and deliver training, reviewing materials for accuracy.
  • Manage one or more Global Topic Teams and supervise the work of ISG secondees, supporting their professional growth.
  • Participate in ISG management activities, including strategy development and project management.
  • Review materials prepared by the Audit Quality/Global Audit Methodology Group to assist in technical accounting-related audit guidance.

Leadership & Management

  • Collaborate with GTT leadership to supervise a team of senior managers and ensure timely delivery of various projects.
  • Represent the GTT in discussions with senior personnel from KPMG member firms, global networks, and regulators on technical matters.
  • Work with leadership from other global teams to address cross-cutting issues.
  • Actively participate in strategy development and resource management for ISG.

Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges

  • Conduct periodic update calls with regional and local Departments of Professional Practice (DPP) to discuss IFRS and regulatory developments.
  • Facilitate dialogues between ISG leadership and regional DPP contacts on developments and strategy.
  • Attend global and European IFRS calls, large network meetings, and present at various events as a KPMG representative.
  • Provide technical assistance through KPMG’s global DPP network.

This is a high-profile global role within ISG, with thought leadership resources utilized across the KPMG network and by external audiences. Your contributions must be technically accurate, relevant, and timely, supporting consistent interpretation and application of IFRS standards.

Essential Experience

  • Technical Skills and Qualifications:
    • Relevant professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a deep understanding of IFRS standards.
  • Non-Technical Skills:
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage projects and collaborate effectively.
    • Excellent communication skills to convey complex ideas simply and persuasively.
    • A strategic and detail-oriented mindset, along with a commitment to high performance and continuous improvement.

Experience Relevant to the Role

  • Senior technical role experience (e.g., Department of Professional Practice, accounting advisory, audit support).
  • Proven ability to handle complex technical accounting issues regarding IFRS standards.
  • Experience in preparing formal communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Successful track record in managing people and delivering projects on time.
