Job Description

The Junior Technical Support Officer will be responsible for managing technology solutions, ensuring system security, and providing technical support to employees. You will handle user requests, maintain system performance, and assist with troubleshooting issues. The role also includes training end-users, performing on-site visits, and managing technology equipment inventory.

Additionally, you will be expected to assist with IT projects and prepare documentation for audits. The position requires flexibility, as you may need to work outside of regular hours, including weekends, to address urgent issues.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and Maintain End-User Technology Solutions

  • Oversee the daily functioning and troubleshooting of company technology solutions.
  • Ensure all technical equipment is up to date, working optimally, and well-maintained.

Cybersecurity and System Monitoring

  • Monitor client systems for health, security, and optimal performance.
  • Identify potential cybersecurity risks and address them promptly.
  • Log all support requests and actions in the Service Desk system for tracking and reporting purposes.

On-Site Support and Preventative Maintenance

  • Visit agent locations to provide on-site support and perform preventative maintenance on technology equipment.
  • Assist in system upgrades and the deployment of new software and technology solutions.

Training and Documentation

  • Provide end-user training on new systems, applications, and updates.
  • Assist in delivering basic computer and cybersecurity training to staff members.
  • Prepare documentation to support external and internal audits.

IT Projects and Reporting

  • Assist in other IT-related projects as required.
  • Provide monthly status reports on activities, including system performance, technical issues resolved, and support requests completed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal Junior Technical Support Officer should have a strong technical background with a passion for solving IT issues, improving system performance, and providing excellent service to end-users. This individual will be proactive, able to work independently, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

  • A degree in Computer Science or a related certification in IT support or technical services.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an IT support role, preferably in a technical or helpdesk environment.
  • Experience with PC repairs, system monitoring, and cybersecurity.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and knowledge of IT systems.
  • Experience with computer repairs and system maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work outside of regular working hours and on weekends when needed.
  • Own a vehicle for travel to different work locations.
