Job Description

The Quality Assurance Lead reports to the Quality Manager and plays a key role in ensuring food safety and quality compliance within the facility. This position requires strong leadership, expertise in quality assurance protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Quality Inspections: Oversee production and packaging areas to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  2. Data Management: Manage datasheets in Red Zone, including sanitation logs, quality monitoring, and line clearance verification.
  3. Hygiene Oversight: Ensure employees adhere to hygiene protocols, including attire and procedures.
  4. Leadership: Lead QA assignments and training sessions to drive quality improvements and compliance.
  5. Sampling and Testing: Perform Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), Enterobacteriaceae (EB), and allergen protein swabs, and report results.
  6. GMP Updates: Provide weekly GMP updates to enhance compliance efforts.
  7. Documentation: Assist with revising Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), audit compliance, and quality metrics.
  8. Non-Conformance Reporting: Initiate non-conformance tags for raw materials and packaging.
  9. Team Collaboration: Work closely with Production Supervisors, Line Leads, and other departments to meet quality goals.
  10. Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to HACCP, GMP, and Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) guidelines, fostering a robust food safety culture.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Lead with strong communication skills, a passion for food safety, and experience in quality assurance leadership.

Skills and Qualifications

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of food safety fundamentals, including GMPs and HACCP.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare quality metrics.
  • Proficient in conducting quality inspections and managing compliance documentation.

Education and Experience

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance in a food production environment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret work orders, checklists, and compliance records.
  • Experience with Red Zone manufacturing software is a plus.
